Children, Project Staff Safe after 7.1 Earthquake Strikes Coastal Cities of Honduras and Belize
Makeshift houses shook forcefully and some collapsed as an off-shore earthquake measuring 7.1 on the Richter scale hit Honduras and Belize at 4:24 AM on Thursday, May 28. Many were forced to flee crumbling homes and apartments with preliminary reports showing 40 injuries and four deaths as a result of the tremor.

As of this writing, our Country Director has reported that all children and staff are safe and there has been no noticeable damage to our centers. Mission of Mercy operates 29 child development centers in Honduras.
