First Food Distribution prepared to enter Haiti

With food and water becoming scarce in the northern regions of Haiti, Mission of Mercy is mobilizing relief on the border town of Dajabon in the Dominican Republic. The distributions are now taking place thanks to donors who have given toward this effort. After determining the objectives and scope of the distribution, country staff and pastors were trained on the distribution of supplies in the community. Those who received the first bags were:
  • Single mothers
  • Earthquake Victims now staying with family members associated with a local MofM project.
  • Widows
  • Grandparents who are caregivers of registered children
  • Children from families with physical disabilities or who cannot work
Contents of the bags contained the following items for each family:
  • Rice
  • Oil
  • Spaghetti noodles
  • 2.2 pounds of tomato sauce
  • Corn meal
  • 1/2 gallon of milk
  • Oatmeal
  • Canned corn
  • Green beans
  • 6.6 pounds of salami
  • Canned sardines
