. Longcebo is an 8-year-old little girl in Swaziland with a new lease on life thanks to the Medical Mercy program.
During a regular medical assessment carried out by staff at the Mayenjani Mercy Center, it was discovered that Longcebo had a heart murmur. Concern for her had grown when it became apparent that she was not able to keep up with the other children in activities. The exam, made possible through donations to the Medical Mercy program, revealed the condition early so that she would have a good chance to survive with proper treatment.
Doctors agreed on a course of action and in short time, with the assistance of the government of Swaziland, Longcebo travelled to Pretoria, South Africa where surgery was performed to save her life. Everything was repaired without complication and she was soon able to return home to recover and resume her daily life.
Today, staff report that Longcebo is gaining weight again, looks healthy, and is much more responsive in activities with the other children. Thanks to the watchful eye of caring staff, trained through the Medical Mercy program, she is still with us.
Medical Mercy cannot continue without the support of people like you. Our goal through this campaign is to raise $200,000 to keep Medical Mercy on track for the year ahead.
While not every case is as dramatic as Longcebo's, thousands of children receive medical care and further treatment as needed through Medical Mercy. There is no medical safety net for children in developing countries. Your gift provides new hope and continued health to the children attending Mission of Mercy projects around the world.
Give today and your gift will make twice the impact. Through the generosity of one of our donors, your contribution will be matched dollar for dollar - up to a total of $50,000.
Please, give now.
