Ivan and his new home
|
In late October, Hurricane Noel swept through the Dominican Republic. At least 79 people died and more than 62,000 already impoverished people were left homeless... including Ivan and his family. Ivan is an eight-year-old boy in one of our Mission of Mercy programs. He is one of six children - as the oldest male in the home, he often takes care of his younger siblings and even his six-month-old niece.
Ivan saw his home completely destroyed, every meager belonging ruined - coated in thick layers of mud and muck. By our standards, Ivan didn't have much. But for him, it was a devastating loss. Ivan and his family were traumatized. They were desperate.
But by God's astounding grace - and the generosity of donors - we immediately came to Ivan's rescue with food, clothing, blankets, water and medicine. And a few short months ago, Ivan and his family moved into their new home - rebuilt by Mission of Mercy. We could respond quickly because we already had the resources in our Children's Crisis Fund.
This fund is also used for emergency medical care, child evangelism efforts, training and preparation of young mothers, repairing classrooms, and assisting programs that are not sponsorship-based or are undergoing a transition.
In order to be able to continue to respond immediately to these kinds of needs around the world, we must replace the funds that we are using.
Please make a gift to the Children's Crisis Fund today. It will bring life-changing help and hope to someone in urgent need. Thank you.
